Let’s Talk About Politics at Work!
The standard guidance I’ve always heard is that politics have no place at work. Yet politics are everywhere and seem unavoidable. And younger generations have much more of an expectation that their employers live their values - and often that means taking political stances.
This blog post from Culture Amp also points out that we need to move beyond avoidance, and into a space where we manage how it’s done.
Recently my employer shared tips with managers for navigating the elections. This included reminders of policies (like reminding us of internal policies on sociopolitical events), highlighting resources available, reminding us of resources available, and directing us towards appropriate places to opt in to political conversations at work.
To that last point, we have a public Slack channel where folks can go to discuss politics and I greatly appreciate the “opt in” nature of this, vs simply treating politics as a taboo topic.
I’m curious to hear if this is a point of discussion in your workplace, and how you’re supporting your workforce during a time of increased political polarization!

Awesome Talent Practices in the Wild!
This section will share innovative ideas and practices from individuals and companies. I’ll share some that I spy, but you are always welcome to brag about your work!!
Justin Hampton is a great follow in the compensation space, and I thought this was a great point of discussion around FSLA classifications (the distinction of what is “legal” vs what is “fair” applies to so much work in this space!)
No surprises here: candidate experience matters a lot!
