Evolutions to this newsletter!

When I started this, my thinking was that folks could post questions, and we could solicit community responses to help us learn and grow together.

A couple of interesting things emerged:

  1. I was getting a lot more questions that responses!

  2. Some of the responses appeared to be AI-generated/so generic that I wasn’t sure they would be super useful to folks.

I solicited feedback from a few people and heard an interesting thing - they weren’t sure that they had enough expertise.

I’ll be honest that our subscribers here are HEAVILY female-dominated, and I think folks are probably selling themselves short here as women often do. But it made me think that perhaps that wasn’t the best set up as it made people feel like they needed to be an expert in that week’s specific topic.

So instead, I wanted to make things more open-ended for folks to be able to share great things they’re seeing out there - this can be what you are doing, what you see colleagues doing, a practice you saw from another company that you’d love to see replicated, etc.

Hopefully this will open up the ways folks feel like they can share/brag/amplify greatness - their own, and what they see around them!!

Awesome Talent Practices in the Wild!

This section will share innovative ideas and practices from individuals and companies. I’ll share some that I spy, but you are always welcome to brag about your work!!

I come from the world of education, and I swear we had to work so hard for every hire! I loved seeing this recruiter, Kendall Louise, share what she’s hiring now, and what roles are on her hiring plan so she can begin networking now!

I swear this is not an ad! At RecFest last week, I actually got a question about using Zapier in the hiring process so I made this video, and here’s the blog post referenced.

Speaking of RecFest, some great takeaways from the team at Higher People here.

And this is just for fun…I giggled at this post from Joseph Jewell.

Just found Shirley Schaff who regularly shares recently posted remote roles in HR!

DJ, Founder and CEO at We are Distributed shared his platform, as well as a collaboration opportunity with us!

1) Currently have the global job board where they can finally reach 11.5k job seekers globally self-serve. We currently get ~600-700 new people per month, but we've yet to do our big launches yet.

2) Building a free AI-bot to help TA & people teams navigate global hiring; answering questions they have about local labour markets in 100+ countries (w/live updates - e.g. when UK chancellor changes income tax rates, the bot will reflect that asap)

3) Starting to build a modern, human-first talent acquisition platform which will essentially find talent that is just as good or better than their existing team all year round; whether they're hiring or not.

We're looking to work super closely with ~5-20 design partners who will be open to meeting 1-2 times a month, participate in testing, providing feedback & ideally becoming our first customers at a significantly reduced rate.
